The 80’s and 90’s were nice, but people are getting carried away. Living in the past is what old people do. If you’re between the ages of 21-35, you shouldn’t be talking about “the good ol’ days.”
It’s cool to be nostalgic and whatever, but let’s get real. We didn’t have internet, we didn’t have Wikipedia or Youtube or any of that. Entertainment and information wasn’t as plentiful and easily accessible. We didn’t have HDTV’s, we had small ass fuzzy screens. We didn’t have cell phones. Remember having to record music off the radio by using a blank cassette tape? Remember walking around with your portable CD player and a bunch of CDs? Now all you have to do is download a song and put it on your iPod. Your whole music collection is in your pocket. I don’t have to go to Blockbuster Video, I can rent movies using OnDemand on my TV.
Some of the TV shows were nice, a lot of the cartoons were trash, a LOT of the movies were trash…
I understand clinging onto memories, especially if you lost a loved one. Otherwise, you really can’t be serious when you tell me previous eras were better. I couldn’t do half the stuff I can do now 10 years ago.
Nothing satisfies me more than seeing the Lakers lose.
But instead of watching that game, and worrying about my fantasy basketball league and all this other boring dorky shit, a part of me feels like I should be in a club getting grinded on by freaks right now.
These days, ignorance is most associated with youth. When you’re young, you supposedly don’t know anything… you’re figuring things out. Age means you’re wiser and life experienced.
I’m in my mid 20’s and I still get called a kid. I hate this. Before I loved it, because it meant that I wasn’t ‘old’ yet. In reality, they’re trying to tell me I don’t know anything, and that I probably won’t know anything for another 5-10 years.
You look at guys my age in the NBA, they call them young stars with a bright future… they say they have a ton of potential, but many haven’t reached that next step. LeBron James was born the same year as me, but no matter what he does, people keep saying Kobe Bryant is better… because he’s more experienced, wiser, and most importantly, has championships.
What I’m saying is, don’t fear getting old. You’re not even in your prime yet. They say 27-32 are your peak production years. For now you’re just learning life until it’s your time to shine. All these old heads will be in wheel chairs, and they’ll be depending on you. We won’t be kids to them anymore. We won’t be the ones with ‘bright futures.’ Instead, the world will be ours.
Every now and then on message boards, I see the occasional thread about hot chicks. Now sometimes, when a white chick is posted, a black man will say some shit along the lines of, he doesn’t like white women, white women are disgusting, white women are the devil, pink nipples look weird… whatever.
So apparently some negros have this undying love for black women, but yet these are the same niggas usually tricking off on their girls while in the club with their boys.
Where exactly does this ‘hate’ come from anyway? Did they watch Roots and that shit scarred them for life? I don’t get it.
Black people always talk about racism will never die, pointing fingers at others. Okay, but look at you. Why exactly don’t you like (insert race here) besides the fact you were taught not to? It’s no different than white people growing up within a KKK community and family. You’re from the hood and you’re taught that white people are evil, and white people are the ones keeping you down.
